Club Ride- January 25, 2003

We got lucky on this day as the weather was a balmy 25 degrees as we gathered behind McDonald's restaurant for our Club Ride to Jay.

Ready to Go

Our Leader

Chris Dickson was an efficient and capable leader as he got us off with a timely start at 9:05 a.m. There were 15 of us on the ride and spirits were high as we started out.

Roger & Ivan - Riding Buddies

We traveled at a comfortable pace from Rumford via Corridor 17 and local trail 38 through Peru to Canton. These trails were in great shape! We stopped occasionally along the way for conversation and leg-stretching. Whenever we came to a road crossing, Buddy, Joe, Chris, or Gary were there to make sure we all got across safely.

The crew made a brief stop at the beginning of the Peru trail system, and made another stop at the beginning of the Canton trail system

In Canton we picked up ITS 89 to Jay and arrived at LaFleur's Restaurant at noon, right on schedule! Chris did a great job of planning for this ride. When we got to the restaurant, we had our own private dining room!

Trail-side Conference

Around 2:00 p.m., we hit the trails again. Chris took us on a different route to get home, going by way of the Dixfield and Mexico trails. Along the way, after a short trail-side conference, we took a detour to Colonel Holman Mountain.

What a View

What a view from the top! It was definitely worth the ride up the hill. We got back to Rumford around 4:30 p.m. and everyone agreed that it had been a great Club Ride and we should have another one soon! (See Club Rides and Events for date of next ride.)

Chris's smile seems to say, 'I think they liked the ride'.
